Dana Deutsch was a very special friend Nancy met during her battle with cancer. Dana was also battling and was an inspiration to Nancy. Sadly Dana lost her battle March 2018 and we want to make sure her spirit lives on with a retreat.

Dana was born in Minneapolis, MN and has left her legacy in many cities. Dana was passionate about everything she did. Dana was a firefighter for Village Fire Department in Houston, TX from 2001-2004. She was also a volunteer firefighter for the Houston Fire Department and competed in Masters powerlifting. Dana had a huge passion for animals. She was the founder of Ralphie's Place Animal Rescue, she was an Animal Control Officer at Chicago Animal Care and Control and she served as the Animal Warden in the City of North Chicago Animal Control from 2014 until she passed. Dana volunteered with countless organizations for the well being of animals and went on rescue missions for both Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Harvey areas with a group called "Operations Bring Animals Home." She spent 5 months on the ground at Hurricane Katrina; disaster response was her passion.  Never doubt that one person can make a huge impact on the world, Dana inspired every human she met and saved every animal she encountered. 
Dana's Heart to Hands is a group of Dana Deutsch's friends and supporters who wish to continue her legacy by supporting animals in need.  The first service project was  building a retreat cottage at 2nd Hand Ranch that is dedicated to Dana and her passion for nature and animals.  The little house named DANA'S RETREAT  is a place for people to come stay and get away from the hustle and bustle to recharge with nature. 

Dana's Retreat off grid meaning there is no running water, but there is an adorable outhouse and we do supply 5 gallons of handwashing and cleanup water and a NEW Bucket Shower !!!  Its amazing!!   Its camping for folks that aren't interested in sleeping in a tent LOL.  But there are cleared areas to put up a tent for a gathering of more than just 3-4 people.

We only book through AirBnB to keep track of all the bookings, its been a blessing with all the interest in staying and we are booked almost every weekend.     Every single penny (after AirBnB fees) goes 100% to the rescue bank account - its a win win win.  You stay and heal your soul and all funds help the animals!
